How to Set Intentions with Spiritual Tools

April 21, 2025

Your tools don’t do the work for you — they support you in doing the work with focus and clarity.

Setting an intention is about more than making a wish or saying a few nice words. It’s about stating your focus clearly, anchoring it through action, and committing to follow through. That’s where your tools come in.

Whether you're working with a spell jar, a candle, or a crystal grid, these tools act like energetic containers. They hold the energy you're working with, but they need your direction.

Here’s how to set your intention with purpose:

  1. Get clear on what you’re asking for.
Be specific. “More abundance” is vague. “Confidence to price my work properly” is an intention.
  2. Write it by hand.
This is key. Don’t type it — write it with a pen. Writing by hand helps your brain and energy integrate it more deeply.
  3. Use your tool as an anchor.
Hold your spell jar, light your candle, or charge your crystal — whatever you’re working with — and speak the intention aloud. Then let the tool act as your energetic reminder.
  4. Follow it with action.
Magick without movement is just hoping. You have to walk in alignment with what you’ve asked for.

Spiritual tools don’t replace the work — they reinforce it.
