The Quiet Before Descent — Late Summer in the Southern Hemisphere

February 25, 2026

The Quiet Before Descent — Late Summer in the Southern Hemisphere

Late Summer thins.

The light still holds.
But it no longer advances.

In the Southern Hemisphere, the turn is subtle.
Heat lingers.
Yet the evenings lengthen.
The sun lowers by degrees.

Mabon is not yet here.

On the Wheel of the Year in the Southern Hemisphere,
we stand between the height of Summer
and the measure of the Autumn Equinox.
The turn has begun in this land.
The light lingers, but it no longer governs the season.

Do not summon harvest prematurely.
Do not speak of balance before it stands equal.

This is the narrowing.

Growth slows.
Sap withdraws.
Shadows begin to stretch without effort.

Stand still long enough to feel it.

What has already reached its fullness?
What has begun to fall away without force?

No declarations are required.
Only recognition.

If you cast circle in these weeks, keep it spare.

One flame.
Silence.
Breath.

Name what is complete.
Release it without drama.

The equinox will bring measure.
For now, there is quiet.

The land leans toward descent.
So do we.

The Land Begins to Withdraw

There is a change in the body before it is named in the mind.

Sleep deepens.
Heat no longer presses outward.
Evenings call for enclosure.

In the Southern Hemisphere, the soil cools by degrees.
Second harvest nears.
Grain hardens.
Fruit grows heavy.

This is not celebration.
It is recognition.

Walk the land at dusk.

Notice what has given its fullness.
Notice what lingers beyond its season.

Do not prolong what is already thinning.

The equinox will weigh the measure.
For now, you observe.

Quiet is not emptiness.
It is the gathering before descent.

Mabon approaches.

In the Southern Hemisphere, the Autumn Equinox falls on March 20.

There is time yet before the scales stand equal.

When it stands equal, you will know what remains.

As above, so below.

Beyond the Full Moon: Working With the In-Between

October 30, 2025

Most witches focus on the new or full moon, but the in-between holds real magick. The waxing, waning, and balsamic phases carry energy for growth, reflection, and release — the work between beginnings and endings. Learn how to use each phase to refine your craft, adjust your altar, and stay in rhythm with the moon’s living cycle.
